Introduction

Nuxeo is the recognized leader of open source ECM (Enterprise Content Management), creating and supporting the CPS Platform. This success has been built so far, during the last six years, upon the Zope application server and the Python scripting language.

In February 2006, while reviewing the technological options for the next generation of our ECM platform and product line, we decided to evaluate the Java options. After about two months of analysis of the different open source “bricks” upon which to build our solutions, and of prototyping a first “draft” of the application, we made our choice and began a complete migration of our technologies to the Java Platform.

Of course, we are using this opportunity to considerably improve the technical architecture and functional scope of our platform.

Besides, the product name “CPS” will be replaced by “Nuxeo”. The next-generation platform will be called Nuxeo 5, and will be composed of:

• Nuxeo Enterprise Platform (EP) 5 for the server-side ECM solutions
• Nuxeo Rich Client Platform (RCP) 5 for client-side ECM applications 

Hence, Nuxeo EP version 5 is the replacement of CPS as you know it. We're not abandoning CPS, we're taking it to the next level.
