Nuxeo Enterprise Components
Nuxeo Enterprise Components are the applicative components of the Nuxeo Enterprise Platform. Those components provide all features of the platform, both technical and functional. They also benefit from the powerful extension mechanism of Nuxeo Runtime. An application based on Nuxeo EP is basically a set of Enterprise Components that are bound together and who mutually extend themselves. Enterprise Components are typically based on Nuxeo Foundations to access Nuxeo Core services and provide the user interface.
From a Java EE point of view, Enterprise Components are standard Java EE archives (war, ear, sar, etc.) including a NuxeoFeature manifest that allows them to use Nuxeo Runtime extension features. They offer a new way to create componentized, pluggable and flexible Java EE applications. You now can extend a Java EE application without rebuilding it, since components can extend each others dynamically.
In short, Nuxeo Enterprise Components hold all the server-side Nuxeo 5 user features. They are the applicative stack of the platform.
