In this user guide you will learn how to use Nuxeo DAM, so that you can:

To start a new import, click on Import from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Next, you have to fill in the following fields:
Once the import is done, you can see the digital files as thumbnails, with the first file selected on the right side of the window.
When a file is selected, you can see different tabs on the right panel:
On the search pane, in the full text area, you can enter a term. In this example, the search term is "alligator". The search results will be filtered and will show only digital files in which this word can be found.
To refine the search, you can choose a geographical location. For example, you can search for files that concern alligators, but only in a precise spot, the Cayman Islands. The search results will be filtered accordingly.

You can select multiple geographical coverage locations. For example, this search shows files concerning alligators whose coverage is the Cayman Islands OR Cuba OR Costa Rica.

Select the file. In the information tab, in the Main Data section, click on the "Edit" button.

You can add/modify fields including title (displayed under the digital asset view), description, author, authoring date, topic, coverage, etc. You can also change the file name.
To save changes, you have to click on the "Save" button at the bottom or top right of this form.
You will see that EXIF and IPTC metadata are automatically extracted from the digital file when it is imported.

Select the file. In the information tab, in the Comments section, click on the "Add" button.

You will see a text area where you can enter your comment, and then add it to the file by clicking "Add".
You can then see all comments on the asset, with the date and author of the comments.
To export a digital file, you can either copy the URL of the chosen format, or directly download the watermarked digital file.
When you download the digital file, you can retrieve it on your computer, watermarked.

DAM Interface
This is the interface you will use to import, organize, enrich, process and export your digital assets. You can choose the list view or the thumbnail view by clicking on one of the icons at the top of the screen.

Import digital files
To start using Nuxeo DAM, you need to transfer your digital files to the system. You can import a set of digital files archived as a zip file, or you can import files one by one.To start a new import, click on Import from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Import window
First, you have to select the file (zip or single digital file) to import. When you click on "Select file", a pop up will allow to browse your drives. For large files, the percent of upload progress is shown.
Next, you have to fill in the following fields:
- Title of the import set: This enables processing of a whole set of digital files.
- Description: a textual description of the import set content
- Author: contains the name of the person who created the content of this import set (photographer, graphic artist, name of a company or organization, etc.)
- Authoring date: designates the date the content was created rather than the date of the creation of the physical representation
- Topic: choose from a dropdown list
- Coverage: the geographic or temporal coverage of the resource, the geographic applicability of the resource, or the jurisdiction under which the resource is relevant.
Once the import is done, you can see the digital files as thumbnails, with the first file selected on the right side of the window.
When a file is selected, you can see different tabs on the right panel:
- Information tab: file details, metadata and comments, extracted metadatas (EXIF and IPTC)
- IP (Intellectual Property) rights tab: specify permissions for use of the file
- Export tab: export watermarked versions of the digital file in different formats
Search for a digital asset
